ASHAWAGH HALL May 11th – 13th 2017

Springs School students and professional artists are collaborating once again to put on the thrilling Springs Mystery Art Sale, a fundraiser that supports art education as well as local artists. It is modeled after the world famous event at the Royal College of Art in London where students, professional artists and designers create postcard-sized artworks to be exhibited and sold anonymously for the same small price tag. In previous years we have been lucky enough to receive donations from incredible professional artists and celebrities such as David Salle, Ross Bleckner, April Gornik, Liza Mineli, Micahel Barishnikov , Eric Ernst, Randy Rosenthal, Toni Ross, Dan Rizzie, Linda Capello, Abby Abrams, the list goes on!  Springs students were immensely proud to see their own talented work exhibited alongside such great artists, jointly creating an exhibition of over 1000 artworks for sale.

This year we have an added an exciting new twist to the 'Mystery'... Springs School Students have established a connection with an art department at the Angela Landa Elementary school in Havana, Cuba and we are delighted to share the space at Ashawagh Hall with 5x7 donations from some of the students from this school!  We hope this is just the beginning of continued collaboration with the Angela Landa School and that we can foster creative exploration between the two countries to help broaden the children's understanding of different cultures.
The majority of the artwork at this years’ event will again be sold anonymously for $20.00 each. We will also be holding a silent and live auction. This is an exciting opportunity for art lovers to acquire original art for a tiny price while supporting art education and artists. The "mystery" of whose work an art collector has bought will only be revealed at the end of the closing party on Saturday, May 13th at 7pm.

This year, in conjunction with the Mystery Art Sale we will also be holding the inspirational and educational The Festival Of The Arts again on Saturday, May 13th 2017.  This event provides the public, both young and old, an opportunity to take FREE art workshops with a selection of some of our finest local artists in a variety of mediums from visual arts to the performing arts. There will also be an ‘art off’ where talented student artists will go head to head with professional artists in a live ‘Art Off’ competition. The day will culminate in a closing party 4-6pm with the exciting live Mystery Art auction commencing at 5pm and the big ‘reveal’ at 6pm!
